I'm starting to think the university was concerned about lawsuits from HCJA in the event of a termination.
Hence the lawyers being at the meeting. And since we have had no concrete evidence I'm thinking there was an expectation of a wrongful termination suit that would come. WSU may have had enough witnesses from former athletes to win that case, but it could be very expensive. And if they lose then it would be a double whammy because they would owe the full contract amount.
The part I find most ridiculous is that ADES gave a contract extension after some of these allegations were being brought to him. If nothing else I would expect him to wait a while and see what unfolded before locking the university in like that.
